Fernium 8 was just screened. It was met with the most enthusiastic applause that I have heard here. Matthew has become very popular with the locals, they find his personality very entertaining, so every time his nickname came up in the credits the applause rose. The award ceremonies are tomorrow mid-day. Let me say no more about that in fear of jinxing ourselves.
After the screenings yesterday everyone went to an old castle on a hill that overlooks the city of Karlovac. They showed another film and then had a DJ and everyone was dancing. Today in a few hours they will be screening F8 at the main theater. I forgot to mention that a film organizer from Bangladesh asked for a copy of F8 and he said he might put it in a film festival over there. Matthew and I are making many friends and contacts, everyone here is very cool.

There were many highlights from the first day. I believe that Megaphone is experiencing sensory overload. All of the films screened were of quality. Many of the filmmakers here are in their early 20's. The festival grew out of a film club from the local high school in the 90s. Now it is a very big production with many sponsors, including McDonald's. We were invited to an after-party held in the video production classrooms at the high school. It was fun to see Mefaphone have fun with thier high school's film crew. Kind of like my kids from an alternate universe.

A day in Zurich...
At Zurich airport. Megaphone has crashed on a chair here at the airport coffee shop. We spent 6 hours wandering around Zurich center and ate peasant bread and sausages at this really cool local/farmer's type market within the old train station. ...We turned a possibly nightmarish 11 hour lay-over into an awesome day.
We didn't plan on visiting Zurich. I didn't realize our lay-over would be so long. The great thing is that Megaphone has never left the U.S.. So Switzerland is the first foreign country he has visited. (took him a bit to stop saying Sweden by mistake) I love being in cities that did not change their shape to accommodate the automobile.
The weather is perfect but we are both exhausted. I am looking forward to the first night in Zagreb where we will stay at the Hotel Dubrovnik. It is supposed to be nice.
I am too tired to write coherently anymore. I'll post again tomorrow morning.

Welcome...
I will only be posting on this blog this week while Megaphone (Matthew Oliviera) and I (Andrew Teheran) are in Croatia attending the festival. I'll put more detailed info here than in the twitter. Enjoy.
